Hopefully this finds you enjoying late summer/early fall. It was nice to see so many of our clients, trusted professionals, and team members take some well-deserved time off this summer. Fingers crossed that everyone is refreshed as we head into the fourth quarter!
Previously in the opening section of this newsletter we have discussed two of our three core values (Problem Solving and having a Continuous Improvement Mindset). In this edition we would like to spend some time on our third core value, Taking Ownership of Results.
We are striving to have our core values inform how we hire, develop, retain, and reward the talented professionals on our team. As we think about Taking Ownership of Results, we are looking for people who are independent, resourceful, and dependable. If we are successful in hiring and developing people with this core value, then we should be able to give them room to do their jobs and problem solve for our clients and the trusted professionals that we partner with. A high percentage of the time, this should yield results that support our Core Purpose, which is being indispensable to the clients that we serve.
What about the (hopefully) small percentage of the time where the results do not meet our standards? This is where the last part of this core value really comes into play which we define as welcoming accountability. Nobody likes to make mistakes and we leverage technology and systems as much as possible to reduce errors, but they do happen. This is when we really learn how aligned we are around this core value. Over the years we have had numerous examples of team members raising their hands to take ownership of an error and at the same time proactively identifying ways in which we can improve. Our leadership team endeavors to provide feedback in these instances that is just as positive as when the results are more favorable.
Thanks as always for spending some time with our newsletter. We hope to see you in one of our new offices soon!
Sincerely,
Buddy Webb
